What types of waste is accepted at the Landfill?
Otay Landfill accepts Municipal Solid Waste, Commercial Waste and Non-Hazardous Industrial Waste. We cannot accept electronic waste, batteries, or hazardous wastes.
So far, it DOES...NOT say, that the Otay Landfill can NOT accept Humans, or #BulkyBiologicalWasteInsideDiapers which IS the precise type of "waste" I have officially been legally classified as.

Organic waste can decompose within months, while non-organic waste such as plastics and glass can take 450-1,000 years to fully decompose.

Accepts trash disposal, large animal disposal, recycling (accepts refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, stoves, washers, dryers, hot water heaters,toilets, small computer and household electronics, and tires). Also offers debris containers and construction waste recycling.
Trash is collected weekly, Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The collection day depends on where you live in the City.
Trash Collection Services:
Trash must be set out at the curb or alleyway by 6 a.m. for pickup. To help prevent litter, bag or wrap all loose trash material before placing it in the bin. Remember to leave space between trash and recycling bins for easy access by automated garbage trucks and always keep bins at least 3 feet from any obstacle.
There is no collection of City of San Diego trash, recyclables, or yard waste on the following City-observed holidays:
- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
